bus topology

BUS TOPOLOGY

A bus network is a network topology in which nodes are connected in a daisy chain by a linear sequence of buses. There are two terminator in the end of cable to observe signal and stop signal to bounce back.

Bus Topology
Advantages :-

  1. Easy to connect a computer or peripheral to a linear bus
  2. Requires less cable length than a star topology
  3. It works well for small networks.
Disadvantages :-

  1. Entire network shuts down if there is a break in the main cable
  2. Terminators are required at both ends of the backbone cable
  3. Difficult to identify the problem if the entire network shuts down
  4. Not meant to be used as a stand-alone solution in a large building
  5. It is slow when more devices are added into the network
  6. If a main cable is damaged then network will fail or be split into two networks
